I used to go to Betty's years ago to see live music so when I saw an ad in The Chicago Reader that they had live bands on Thursdays I met up with a couple of friends and we went this past Thursday. 2 bands played from 9:45pm to about 12am (not a huge fan of the 2nd band, but the 1st band "Some Years Later" was really good). Great sounds, crowd was fun, played Bags in the beer garden with some fun random biker guys, and really had a good time. I also found out they have a Bags Tournament every Monday for cash and half price drinks...count me in! We were talking to some people in the bar and learned that Betty's had changed for the good over the last few months (as the guy mentions in the review before mine). Even though I haven't been to Betty's in awhile and couldn't imagine it getting so "ghetto" (as the person described it) it didn't matter to us because we had a great time listening to live music and just chilling. My only suggestion at this point is start serving some bar food or sandwiches......drinking + food = happier people who don't have to leave earlier than planned so they can eat.

FYI...Scott the manager is no longer there and there are a ton of amazing changes happening! Patio open! Beer Garden to open in July! Interior & Exterior upgrades in process!

It was only our 2nd time in the place now i know why, the place thinks it is a downtown bar with the prices of the drinks. hey ashland and grand it's at not the gold coast. have friends that went a few times, but they will not go back because the manager scott was very rude to them the last time they were there. don't bother wastong your time.

been to Betty's a few times, great staff, kick ass sound system and open til 4am, I love this place.

been to Betty's a few times, I like the diversity and the closest I have come to feeling a NYC vibe, The music is great and so is the sound system, 4am bar..cute bartenders

This place sucks balls - big sweaty ones - I think this has got to be the most up tight bunch of "we're" too cool assholes I have ever seen in my life - it's not downtown Chicago, it's Ashland and Grand - not the nicest of all areas in Chicago for you all to have the attitude you do.
The bands there suck, most of your dj's can't mix a beat to save their lives, and the bar smells like old stale beer and smoke
I might live a few blocks away, but I avoid the place like the plague or a 10 dollar whore - and you can find the 10 dollar whore there - believe me - just look at the skanks behind the bar!

Your way better off hiting the dive 4ams on Halsted. This place is twice the dive they are, with four times the attitude. You can find more attractive people sleeping off public intox at 26th and California. NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT ought to be the name of this bar. They're rude, aged, elitist, and ugly. That's a recipe for a bad time. Every time. Take a pass.

I absolutely love going to Betty's. The music is great, the people are typically friendly, and almost everyone dances. I have been to many clubs where patrons are more interested in looking good than having a great time. This is not one of those places. Betty's is the best choice for a somewhat low key place to dance, chill, and drink. I give it a 9.

We tried to go here on a Saturday night, had a group of 8 people, half girls half guys.. they wouldnt let our guy friends in because they were wearing shorts, even though one of the girls with us was wearing shorts as well. obviously a yuppy bar overly obsessed with image. we wont be going back.

I work here so of course it is great but not only cu i work there but every time i go and am not working i have great time danceing drinking hitting on women just enjoying myself and that's is what etty's blue star lounge is about!!!!!
