Kicking back to enjoy great live music has never been easier, thanks to Morseland. Its unique menu and daily drink specials paired with an intimate atmosphere make it one of best venues on the far North Side.

Located in the heart of Rogers Park, Morseland boasts its "good eats" and "nice beats." Compared to other restaurants that offer live music, it feels like a place where the music truly comes first, as there are shows nearly every night. The rich wood tables, coupled with the velvet curtains wrapping the stage, create a warm, relaxed environment. Considering the size of the interior, the stage is huge. The acoustics are fantastic, so even if you're not sitting at some of the tables near the stage or at the bar chatting with the locals, you'll hear every vocal lilt and string pluck. For an up-close experience, you can call ahead to reserve one of the two booths that provide a prime view of the stage. Music ranges from jazz to hip-hop, from Latin to rock and everything in between.

If you come to Morseland thinking you'll find traditional bar and grill eats, you're in for a surprise; the menu features Jamaican, Creole or southern-style cuisine. There are a few staples like burgers, salads and traditional appetizers, but you’ll also see twists like the Caribbean pork diablo sandwich ($8), Jamaican jerk pork chop ($16) and barbecued catfish ($16). Entrees will run you about $16, burgers and sandwiches go for about $8 and most of the salads are only seven bucks.

Morseland does brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays, when you can enjoy $4 bloody marys and mimosas as well as $2 bottles of domestics. There's also free parking in the nearby lot.
