X-102 Rediscovers the Rings of Saturn 7 p.m. Friday at Chicago Cultural Center; Free Take a break from your typical TGIF routine and explore Saturn, the universe's most mysterious and beautiful planet, with a musical project fifteen years in the making. Experimental 102, aka Detroit-based musical trio Underground Resistance, has composed a soundtrack to accompany images of the never-before seen planet taken by the NASA Cassini/Huygen exploratory mission. 2. Winter 2009 Chicago Blues Tour Saturday, 8 p.m.-2 a.m.; $40 Aiming to swivel the spotlight away from popular North Side joints like
B.L.U.E.S. and
Kingston Mines, this popular tour pays historical respect to the 'hoods that helped put Chicago blues on the map by featuring 12 different bands and nine reputable South and West Side clubs like
Rosa's Lounge,
Checkerboard Lounge,
Lee's Unleaded Blues and
Wallace's Catfish Corner. Performers include Guy King, Killer Ray Allison, Super Percy and more. Shuttles will be operating between participating venues all night long (if you buy your ticket online, you'll likely be starting at

3. Party Like It's 1974!

In keeping with the go green movement, wearing recycled clothing is not only good for your wallet, it's good for the planet. Vaudezilla Presents High Society Burlesque! 9 p.m. Friday at Debonair Social Club; $5 in advance, $10 after 10 p.m. This tongue-in-cheek event heralds itself as a "most refined bump and grind," but with dancers named Wham Bam Pam, Backdoor Aly, and Bizarre Sally, things are likely to wind up like school on Sunday (no class). Did we mention blues band Coldcock Jones & the Shithawks will perform?
5. Opening Reception of Artist Gwendolyn Terry

Phaiz blurs the boundaries between art and fashion, pairing a new site-specific installation and a complete collection of one-of-a-kind fashion each month. January artist Gwendolyn Terry, with a BFA from University of Colorado, focuses on using art and artifact to illustrate a convergence of visual narrative and theatrical perspective.
